North Shropshire and Salop Teaching School Alliances and Darwin Learning Partnership have their own high quality adult training facilities available for use by Shropshire School Direct trainees. St.Peter's Learning Centre provides high quality professional development programmes for school staff and will be used as the base for the taught elements of the General Primary and Early Primary Shropshire School Direct programmes, though Early Primary trainees will also receive specialist training at Woodfield Infant School.
Tutors from the University of Chester will deliver lectures and training at St.Peter's Learning Centre in Wem, North Shropshire.
All trainees will be provided with access to a laptop for the duration of the programme and full access to University of Chester student resources and support.
This is a school-based PGCE with more time spent in developing classroom practice than a traditional PGCE programme. Training is delivered across the alliance by practising professionals.
The St.Peter’s CE Primary School, the lead school, in the teaching school alliance has disabled access to most parts of its site and buildings though not all. This is the case for some of our partner schools and applicants may want to bear this in mind when applying to us.
The alliance does not provide accommodation in Shropshire. This would have to be sourced by applicants applying from outside the locality.
Most schools in the partnership can be accessed by local Arriva buses and trains though, due to the rural nature of the alliance schools public transport is not always practical or convenient so access to private transport is an advantage.
There are no child care facilities within our school partnership. Trainees will need to ensure they are able to make their own child care arrangements to enable them to fulfil the demands of the programme.
